Clutter

Where does all the stuff come from???

I have a room in my house that used to serve as a sort of guest room, but we rarely have guests so I thought what is the point? Well, there are those occasional times I ban hubby from our room to teach him a lesson, but that isn't too often (good for us!). So I turned it into a craft room/workout (aren't treadmills great places to dry sweaters!) room. I did buy a small sofa that has a twin size pull out bed just in case we have that rare guest.

What I can't figure out is where all the extra crap comes from. I look around and I know it is all stuff I bought so it no one's fault but my own. I either have to stop shopping (ok, the name of my blog is "Just 1 More Coach Bag" do you really think I'm going to stop shopping???) or get organized....somehow.

I've decided the closet is a great storage area, but the current closet organizer is just crap. It was here when we moved in and I'm not sure it was even meant to be a closet organizer. All the pieces are cut to fit, but not in a custom way...in more of a let's just use this and see what happens way.

Removing the current organizer and installing a new one is a task I've decide I can do myself. My plan is to have it done before Thanksgiving. By the time I'm done, I plan to have one side for craft storage and the other for all my purses (surprise, huh?) and some office filing and supplies.

Wish me luck!

The mind of a 7 year old...

So far today began with a typical morning. We ran around the house rushing to get ready and no doubt forgetting to do a few things along the way. It is usually just Jake and I so you would think it would be a fairly simple process. I generally trust him to put on all the clothes I lay out for him and to get his snacks together for the day. There have been issues in the past with him leaving on his pajamas and just putting on his clothes over top of them. In fact, if you look closely at his pre-school photo when he was 4 you will see 2 t-shirt collars. This was because he left on the shirt he slept in and just kept getting dressed. One day when I picked him up he told me he was really hot all day. I asked him why only to have him pull up his pant leg and show me his flannel pajama bottoms!

This morning in the car on our 10 mile drive to school (he goes to a private school half way between our home and my work), he informs that he wants to be a worker for a boss. I say ok, why is that? He says, well I like to travel alot and a worker gets to buy his own lunch. (HMMMM....ok, this is how the 7 year old mind works, huh?) So I go on to ask why don't you want to be the boss? He says, well all they do is have to talk to people all day saying hi, hi, hi, how are you, ok you can start tomorrow(I am doing everything I can to not laugh out loud at this point so he doesn't think I don't take him seriously). I said so you want to be like daddy because he has a boss and he doesn't really have to talk to people all day. He says oh yeah, I just want to be a 1 man dump truck company.(His dream at this point is to drive the coolest dump truck ever made).

I asked him where he learned about these kinds of things and of course he says, TV!

I'm going to be how old???

So it's just 3 days until my 35th birthday...35!!!!...my god where did the time go!?!? This momentous occasion is one (I'll get to the other in a bit) of the reasons I decided to start something new...my own blog. My own little space to publicly declare if my day was worth getting up for in the morning or if I should have just pulled the covers up over my head and pretended I had gone deaf overnight.

Everyday is worth getting up for when you have the best 3 kids in the world! A little backgroundmight be helpful here. 1 is human, a boy, Jake, whose 7 and the other 2 are from the furry species-1 labrador, Maggie, who produces more fur on a daily basis than should ever be possible and 1 orange tabby, Kitman, the dirty, flea infested baseball sized kitten we found in the posh bushes of Barnes & Noble one Sunday morning. Definitely a lot to blog about daily among these 3.

So now on to my second reason for starting this blog. I came across a post on a message board (for scrapbookers...pretty wild, huh?) with a link to an Ebay auction from a couple of months ago. It was titled "Lot of Pokemon Cars My Kids Tried To Sneak By Me". http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130144061675#description

The description written for this auction itemwas the funniest thing I have ever read. I sat in front of my computer laughing so loud I'm sure neighbors heard me, with tears rolling down my face. The seller is a mom to 6 kids...that might make you laugh in itself, but you have to keep reading the description. I only have one child, but everything she described I have either gone thru in some capacity or watched happen to other moms. She received so many comments she went on to post her blog address and also appeared on ABC World News!

So here I am. I'm definitely not as funny as she is, but I figured maybe I'd give it a try. I also wanted to challenge myself to commit to a daily task. I know, I have a kid to get to school and pick up everyday, a dog & cat to feed, a husband to cook for, a job to go to (only 4 days a week, but at least I make my own money!) so I have many things I have to do daily, but this is different. This is something for me and about me. ME isn't something I always give enough time to.

Now I just need to find some readers other than me! :-)
