Keep Your Fingers Crossed....

I'm still a little unsure about having sent the emails, but tonight I decided to finally try and submit some of my cards for publication in Cards Magazine. I sent them 3 submissions for the March 2009 issue. I'm not at all expecting to be chosen, but it would really make my year if I was! I submitted a baby card, a birthday card and a just for you card.

So keep your fingers crossed for me and say a little prayer :-)

Dieting

About 3 weeks ago, as a family we all decided to get healthier. DS has been doing at least 20 minutes a night on the treadmill for at least 6 months now so he has a jump on DH and I.

Well, as of this morning I have lost 7.5 pounds. That's not alot, but hey, at least it is something! I know most of it has to do with eating better and eating smaller portions. I have been trying to do my treadmill time everyday as well. We also got a Wii Fit and that is really fun too! If you burn calories laughing then we are even loosing weight just watching each other, especially when hula-hooping!

I hoping to drop another 30 pounds by Christmas. Wish me luck!

Happy October!

I realized I haven't written a blog posts in ages and thought I should. I can't believe it is October already. I also can't believe it is still nearly 100 degrees outside during the day! What's up with that?

My birthday is only 19 days away...and I will be on the downside of my thirties. HHHMMM .... just not sure how I feel about that. I just feel like since I turned 30 the time has just flown by.

I'm also trying to get myself in shape. Definitley gets harder as you get older. In February, we are doing a family walk in Huntington Beach. Myself, Jake, David, my sister-in-law, 2 brother-in-laws and nephew are doing the 5K. My mother-in-law and other sister-in-law are going to do the half-marathon! We definitley have a lot of work to do to prepare. But, it should be a lot of fun and being at the beach and doing it with family will be great.

The cast is OFF!

I was finally able to get my cast off about a week and a half ago. I have been wearing this lovely brace that Velcro's on and off, but it DEFINITELY beats the cast! I go back on Monday for X-rays and to see if I still need the brace. Wish me luck!

Everything else is pretty much the same as always. Summer vacation is still going strong...and my DS is still bored a majority of the time. We have swimming lessons for 2 more days in the mornings, karate twice a week in the afternoons and whatever in between. I have invested in the monthly Blockbuster rental program so he rents a new movie or Wii game every few days.

I have been obsessed with watching the Prime Time coverage of the Olympics lately, especially swimmer Michael Phelps. I have been staying up WAY too late every night and paying for it in the morning.

On the bright side, I have been trying to organize my scraproom as I watch and have managed to put together and fill up a 2nd Clip-It-Up! I'm embellishment obsessed it seems...someone even went so far as to suggest EA (Embellishments Anonymous!...ROFL)...but what fun would that be!

Been on a scrap hiatus!

Well, about 2 weeks ago I fell in our backyard (I know...lame, huh?!?!?) and I fractured the Scaphoid bone in my right wrist. I have learned that this bone, as small as it is, is very important. I am wearing a cast.

This has completely interrupted my life. It takes 3 or 4 times as long to do things...even putting on a bra is enough to make me want to lay down and take a nap.

I have a follow up appointment on Monday the 21st. I sure hope I have made enough progress to get out of the cast and into a removable splint.

The lesson I learned from all of this...I truly appreciate having all my limbs in working order...and those who have to live with a disability on any scale are extraordinary people.

How many times can you....

be asked..."SO WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO NOW????"...before you go insane? ROFL

So far I think I have heard that from my DS at least 250 times. I keep trying to give him suggestions on things to do. He will do something and then just before he is done, he will ask... "SO WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO NOW???"

UGH!!!

I have enrolled him in karate, taken him to the movies, played endless Wii games, had his cousin spend the night, etc...and he STILL isn't satisfied.

I have no idea what to do next week. I think we will take a trip to the library and to Blockbuster. I figure he can keep busy with a few books and game rentals for a few hours...well I can hope anyway!

Summer vacation has officially started!

Well DS is officially on summer vacation as of noon today.

This is my first real summer (besides right after he was born), that I will be home with him...EVERYDAY! He is a very BUSY 7 year old and it is going to be a challenge to keep him occupied.

The first activity we have put in place is to read 30 books in 30 days. If DS accomplishes this, he will be rewarded. We have decided the reward would be Mario Kart for Wii.

We also have two 2-week sessions of swimming lessons on the schedule in July and August, a 4-day family vacation to Lake Tahoe at the end of July, and karate starts today!

I'd really like to hear your ideas for making summer vacation survivable. Please POST them!

My name is Amy...

My blog used to be named just1morecoachbag...since most of what I was posting lately was my cardmaking, I decided to change it.

But, this post is about Coach bags! I went to the Coach store today and picked myself up a new Carly bag in Black and Silver. It is just so cute! I also got the Addison sunglasses in Tortoise...to die for!

My name is Amy and I'm a Coach ADDICT!

Still figuring out this Blog thing...

Please forgive me, I am still trying to figure out how having a blog works. I have been experimenting with moving things around, enlarging the fonts, etc.

I would like to put a slide show of pictures of my projects, but I haven't quite figured out how.

So feel free to leave me comments on how to improve!

Does anyone know how I can make the template stretch side to side? There is so much negative space.

Someone wants to buy my cards!

Oh My, I can't believe it...but someone actually wants to buy my cards! I am so flattered.

I had been thinking about putting together a few sets and seeing if they might sell on Ebay so this is so great. I have an idea of what I will charge per card, but it seems weird to charge people for doing something I love!

Have you ever sold any of your work? What did you sell and what did you charge?

I got a little lost...

Well I got a little lost and completely neglected my blog. But, I have decided it is good therapy and I need to start again.

And today of all days is Mother's Day. It should be MY day to just do whatever I want and not have to do a THING for anyone else.

Well my day started out by making breakfast for the family. Of course, I was hoping someone would at least step up and do the dishes...I must have still been dreaming.

I made my hubby go get lunch and dinner. I was little bitter over the whole breakfast thing.

My sweet son did wake me up and give me his handmade card. It was cute and special and completely done with love.

I haven't even taken a shower today. I decided to just stay in my PJs and watch tv, nap and chat on the computer.

The day could only have gotten better if a big brown box with a new Coach bag had been waiting for me this morning...

well my blog is called just 1 more Coach bag...

so I bought another one this weekend! Who could pass up 40% off at Nordstrom!!! Ok, maybe I should have passed it up. I'm a Coach junkie. It's really bad. But, I have actually given a couple to my mom.

The worst part is, I need more closet space....actually just better organized space so I will actually use them all. I tend to just use the same one for days because switching purses is such a hassle. I always leave something in the other purse-change, lip balm, sunglasses, brush, etc-and it is always that one thing I really need.

But, some of that is my fault. If I was better organized I would also pick out what I was going to wear the next day the night before and get my purse switched over before I'm trying to run out the door in the morning.

This would be the case today...I'm wearing black and gray...have an awesome Coach Legacy bag in Clay (medium gray color) and I was running late so I am carrying a light tan Legacy bag which I used yesterday (it didn't match yesterday either!).

And to top it off my pants are a little snug and my sweater is just that much too short to cover the bottom of my rear end so the tightness of the pants is visible to all.

Lovely...just lovely! (But, my purse sure is cute!)

Officially 35...

I just realized that I have been so busy that I haven't posted a new blog for a few days now.

Well, I am officially 35 now (the crowsfeet are forming as I type!). It was a rather uneventful day. I had an appointment to get my hair done (been hiding the gray for years now). I never really know what to do with my hair. Sometimes I just say "the same" and others I get a little thought in my head and say "can we do this?". The same guy has been doing my hair since I was 20. So he knows what I like and what I don't and he won't do things he doesn't feel are the best thing. I've been just about every color under the sun, except all over blonde. He says my hair is just too healthy and the bleaching would destroy it. I'm also have a pretty fair complexion and he doesn't think it would look good on me. I have gone thru several stages of want it long and want it short (just below the shoulders is short to me). Currently it is just above my waist. This is how is has been for more years than not.

Like most everyone in my age range, I had the Dorothy Hamil at one point (the Jennifer Aniston do of its time). Oh my god, who ever thought that was attractive?!?! My hair was so long when I did it, my mom actually has the pony tail they cut off to give me that awful haircut. And it was awful...it was so uneven, I had to go somewhere else and have it cut again. Only to fix it I ended up with what I would call a mullet! I have tried to find and burn all pictures where this hair cut might be seen, but I'm sure my mom has a few stashed away.

In the last few years I have been introduced to the flat iron. If I ever have to leave my house on short notice knowing I may never see any of my possessions again, I would NOT, under any circumstance, leave without my flat iron! I am in love with this device. I have that kind of hair that isn't straight, but isn't wavy or curly...it's just annoyingly bumpy. It also refuses to hold curl for any amount of time. But, it sure does obey the flat iron!

For once in my life I rarely have a bad hair day. I wish I could say the same for a lot of things in life....
